Tele-Medical Certification

BULLETIN: 2020 – 007

Effective Date: March 17, 2020

 Written Certification Renewal

Linthicum, MD —The Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (the “Commission”) is providing this bulletin to update certifying health care providers and patients on permissible certification renewal practices. To limit the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Maryland, the Commission is hereby authorizing the use of telehealth for written certification renewal.

Maryland cannabis patients are now able to access tele-medicine for cannabis due to the Covid-19 Worldwide Pandemic now affecting our state. This rule was created based on the National State of Emergency and current CDC (Center for Disease Controls) guidelines along with the MMCC. While this "social isolation policy" and tele-medicine remains active, patients are able to make appointments  and provide necessary documents via voice, text, email, or skype to obtain medical cannabis.
