In Maryland, a cannabis patient must be both registered with the state of Maryland (MMCC) and certified by a registered healthcare provider prior to entering a dispensary to acquire cannabis products.  Your first step is to fill out an application to become registered.  A link to the MMCC registration application is below, but first, familiarize yourself with the process and prepare the photos you will be required to upload in your application.  The application must be completed in one sitting – you will not be able to save your information and return to the application later.

**The two most common reasons that applications are denied are 1) problems with the photo and 2) if your current address does not match the address on your driver’s license (or state-issued ID).  Please let me know if your current address is not reflected on your ID and I will let you know the additional documents you’ll need to get registered.

Prior to beginning the application please have the following ready:

•            A square photo of yourself in front of a plain white or light-colored background – passport style.  Use the square/1:1 setting on your phone.  Your shoulders should be square and it can’t be too close or too far away - have someone take it for you if you are having trouble getting it just right.

•            A photo of the FRONT of your MD driver’s license or state-issued ID with address on it.

•            A photo of the BACK of the same ID.

•            A credit card to process the $50 application fee.

*After you complete the application remember to go to your email to confirm your email address with the commission.  This is what begins the review process.  If your address isn’t verified it just sits in limbo.

Here is a link to the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission application:                                                      The application approval time is running at about 2 - 3 weeks.  When you receive your approval email from the MMCC containing your 16-digit MMCC ID number, you’ll be ready to see a provider for certification.
